O LORD my God, You are very great; . . .You who laid the foundations
of the earth.  PSALM 1 0 4 : 1 , 5

God’s love did not begin at Calvary. Before the morning stars sang together, before the world was baptized with the first light, before the first blades of tender grass peeped out, God was love.

Turn back to the unwritten pages of countless eons before God spoke this present earth into existence, when the earth was “without form and void” and the deep, silent darkness of space stood in stark contrast to the brilliance of God’s glory and His cherubim and seraphim. Even then, God was love. Before the worlds were created, He knew all about us and the need we would have some day for Christ to die for us. So in His love “he chose us in him before the creation of the world” (Eph. 1:4, NIV).

God does not change—and neither does His love. He loved you before you were born . . .He loves you now . . .and He will love you forever. Will you love Him in return?     – B I L L Y G R A H A M

Easter...the season of True Love!

Things changed so fast. I had married, my husband quit his job (with benefits) to begin a new business venture helping my dad, I lost my dad, I lost my mom, we were pregnant , we lost our business, I almost lost the baby, we almost lost the house and we moved to a new town… all in less than 2 years.

In a new town, my first child beginning Kindergarten, I was invited to church. It was at a Christmas program, listening to the sounds of Christmas and watching a joyful couple singing a duet together, that I had the first tinge that I was missing out on something. Not being raised in a Christian home but, being around Christians in school or in the family business; folks had spoken of this “Jesus thing” to me for years. It was there in that Christmas program, their seeds began to take small roots. I dove in with the thought, “What if?” What if this stuff is for real? I can’t be any worse off by trying out this “Jesus thing”, right? Over the next few months I attended church with the kid and it was after a message on love, during Valentines week, that it clicked. It was His message of love that I had been missing.

What does this have to do with Easter you may ask? Well, it’s still about LOVE. The ultimate LOVE poured out for us. My husband and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day because we agreed early on that the random “tokens” of love are far more treasured scattered through the year. So how appropriate that we can celebrate LOVE at Easter too?

Love one another this Easter. That includes loving yourself too. ; )

The Roman Road

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

“God, I know that I have sinned. I believe that You took the punishment for my sin when You died on the cross and were raised from the dead. I believe that nothing will ever separate me from Your love.”
